Dear colleagues,

You are holding in your hands (or reading it on your electronic device) the end product of our continued planning over the past 1.5 years. I could not be more excited that our plans for putting together this program have finally come to fruition. You will find that we were able to invite world-renowned keynote speakers talking about their research, exciting symposia covering the most relevant aspects in the field of stress and anxiety research, and that the program encompasses numerous high-level contributions from colleagues around the world. I encourage you to review the program and look for congress highlights that may be of specific interest to you. Our opening ceremony on Monday, 09/20/21 at 18:00 – 19:30 will not only formally welcome all attendees to the congress, but will also include the Hans Selye lecture delivered by Professor Mustafa al´Absi (USA). During the closing ceremony on Wednesday, 09/22/21 at 15:45 – 16:15, we will introduce the winners of three poster awards.

I want to specifically highlight the opportunity for all registered attendees to access all scientific contributions via our “mediathek”; here, you will find pre-recorded talks as well as electronic versions of all posters for you to access at your convenience. Also, note that all abstracts are published in the Journal of Neural Transmission. In this journal, you will also find that a special issue has been published (and a printed version will hopefully find its way into your hands), covering the latest developments in stress and anxiety research.

On behalf of the Scientific Committee, the Local Organizing Committee, and the Board of WASAD, I welcome you to the 3rd International WASAD Congress taking place in Vienna, Austria. We encourage you to take full advantage of all opportunities related to this year´s WASAD congress.

I am very much looking forward to meeting you in person!

Best wishes,

Urs Nater

Congress President, University of Vienna
